The Whirlpool Aero Car is one of the most iconic attractions at Niagara Falls. The antique cable car runs high above the thundering falls, giving you a bird's eye view of the river and the Niagara Whirlpool, an amazing phenomenon created by the sudden shift in the river's current. The Aero Car has been in operation since 1916, making its regular trip between the two opposing banks of the Canadian Niagara River. Six cables hold the car suspended in midair, as visitors are treated to the rare sight of the Niagara Whirlpool far below them, churning the whitewater into frothing foam.
The Aero Car offers a capacity of 35 persons, though it need not be full to make a trip across the river. The 10 minute ride is exciting, and sometimes frightening, thing to experience for all members of the family. Of course, the current Aero Car design has been updated since its inception at the beginning of the 20th century. The car underwent major renovations and redesign in 1961, 1967 and then again in 1984. Today, the Aero Car offers you a safe, exciting way to cross a full kilometer of roaring river and one of the most incredible sights you will ever see.
