What started as a
Coney Island nickel hot dog stand in 1916 has grown into a New York legend that still serves the best hot dogs around.
Of course, there's more than just dogs on the menu: crinkle cut french fries, fresh clams and oysters (as well as fried versions of each) are all served here. It's hard to say if it's the salty sea air, the rich history of Coney Island, the close proximity to Keyspan Park (that finally brought Brooklyn and baseball back together) that makes it so good, but whatever it is, the crowds still flock for a summer lunch at Nathan's. In fact, Fourth of July weekend still holds a hot dog eating contest and it was voted City'sBest2006 in the hot dog category.
