The GE Building is a 70 story skyscraper of gothic architecture resting in
Rockefeller Center. An important part of the New York City skyline, it can also be a confusing attraction for tourists to visit. The reason for the confusion is that there is another building in NYC named the
General Electric Building. To further the confusion of the name similarities is the fact that the
General Electric Building used to be named the RCA Victor Building and the GE Building used to be named the RCA Building.
Despite the namesake similarities, the GE Building definitely shines on its own merit. Built in the vein of Gothic architecture, the building provides an elegant, simplistic design to the cityscape. The letters GE stand out from the top of the building, which also has an observation deck. In 1985 this building was granted landmark status.
