Though it now has outposts in several other countries, the original Blue Note in New York has been voted City'sBest in 2006 for the second year in a row. Here in
Greenwich Village you will find a wide array of artists, many of them with crossovers styles and more widespread appeal, though some pure jazz legends have also played here. Think Chick Corea, Roy Haynes and the late Elvin Jones. The decor retains its original 1980s vibe, but luckily the sound system is completely modern. The tables are tightly spaced, but most of them are within feet of the stage. Reservations and early arrival are both recommended, as crowds have been known to line the block waiting to get in.
