Port of New York Sail aboard schooner Pioneer at South Street Seaport Museum in New York City

On various good-weather days throughout the year, the South Street Seaport Museum in New York City welcomes visitors to take a boat ride around the East and Hudson Rivers on their 1885 schooner, the Pioneer. The South Street Seaport Museum, located in downtown Manhattan, is dedicated to honoring NYC's role as a port city. The museum was named by Congress as America's National Maritime Museum.  

During these Port of New York sailing trips aboard the Pioneer, visitors can participate in traditional sailing activities like knot tying, sail raising and chart reading. The experienced and knowledgable guides on the boat tour explain the role of New York as a port city throughout its history - from welcoming immigrants in the 1800s through modern commerce and trade. Children are welcome on these trips. There is an additional fee for the trip on top of the museum admission price.  Students, seniors, children, and museum members will receive an admission discount.
