Guided Tours of Queens Zoo, New York
The Queens Zoo in Flushing, Queens, is a New York City zoo run by the Wildlife Conservation Society, a nonprofit group dedicated to advancing wildlife conservation and promoting the study of zoology. Though the Queens Zoo is smaller than the WCS' flagship Bronx Zoo, there are still a wide variety of exhibits and attractions to experience. This zoo features an aviary, a marsh, an endangered species adventure trail, a South American exhibit, a farm/domestic animal exhibit, and a sea lion pool. The sea lion exhibit features feedings that are open to the public several times a day - sea lions will often show off and do tricks for their dinner!
For adults and older children to best experience what the zoo has to offer, a guided group tour is recommended. On a tour, visitors can learn directly from an experienced zoo guide about each animal and habitat. They can also have their questions answered immediately and learn trivia that they would not otherwise. The zoo hosts tours for any group of families, adults, etc. The fee for a group tour is approximately $100 and the zoo asks that groups not exceed 25 participants. To register for a tour, contact the Queens Zoo Education Department at (718) 271-7361.
