Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York, NY



Since 1924, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade has provided entertainment to both visitors to and residents of New York, NY as well as people enjoying the nationally televised showing each year.

In the past, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade has featured giant and novelty balloons, numerous floats, specialty groups, performance groups including the Broadway Dance Center, NYC Ballet, and the Phoenix Boys Choir, clown groups, and talent groups including famous artists.

Beginning at 77th Street and Central Park West, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade travels to Columbus Circle and turns onto Broadway, then turns west on 34th Street after marching down Broadway, just past Macy's Herald Square. Finally, the parade finishes at 7th Avenue.

While there is no charge to view the parade, there have been restrictions on where viewing locations are, including the past restricted area of Broadway from 34th to 38th Street, and limited viewing areas in other places, so be sure to arrive to the parade early to ensure the opportunity to fully enjoy the parade.

To ensure easy access to great viewing areas and possibly a chance to watch the parade from your hotel's outdoor deck or through your hotel's window, consider staying at one of New York City's nearby hotels.

Located along the route of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Millennium Broadway is located on West Street, ½ of a block from Times Square, Broadway, and Avenue of the Americas.

Between Broadway and Avenue of the Americas, Flatotel is near the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, in the area of Times Square. Other hotels in the Times Square area include the the Carter Hotel, the Quality Hotel Times Square, Sheraton New York Hotel, Novotel New York, and Milford Plaza.

Also nearby Central Park and the parade route is the Holiday Inn Midtown, and just west of the route is the luxurious Hudson Hotel is located on 58th Street. From upscale to moderate, there are a variety of hotels that offer great locations in the vicinity of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade route.
