Labor Day weekend is a great time to visit New York City. In addition to the many exciting hot spots, attractions, and landmarks throughout the city, Labor Day brings special events to mark the occasion. Make plans to enjoy some of the city's holiday festivities and the hot year-round attractions for a truly memorable getaway!

While the city's annual Labor Day parade takes place the Saturday after Labor Day, you can still give your family the parade experience at the West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn on Labor Day. This parade is in its 42nd year, and is sure to please everyone. The parade route runs from Rochester Avenue at Eastern Parkway to Grand Army Plaza. You can enjoy live performances as well as a range of cultural foods from Trinidad, Grenada, and Barbados. This event runs from 11am to 7pm. Nearby hotels include the Marriott Brooklyn and the Best Western Brooklyn Bay.

You can catch hot baseball action over Labor Day weekend as well. The Mets will hots the Chicago Cubs at Citi Field Stadium in Queens from Friday, September 4 through Sunday, September 6. Hotels near the stadium include the Best Western City View Inn, the Best Western Kennedy Airport, and the Hilton Garden Inn Queens / JFK Airport.

Any trip to New York City would not be complete without taking in a Broadway show or two. While most Broadway theaters won't operate on Monday, you can catch a number of shows during the weekend. Explore the Vietnam era through music and Award-winning performances with Hair at the Al Hirschfield Theatre. At the Marquis Theatre, tap your toe to your favorite hits as you cheer the disgruntled group of co-workers along in 9 to 5: The Musical. The whole family will love the timeless tale of the magical nanny, Mary Poppins, playing at the New Amsterdam Theatre. These are just a few of the dozens of great shows you can enjoy in New York City's Theater District. There are a wide range of hotels near the Theater District, including the Hudson Hotel New York, the New York Inn, and the Marriott Marquis, to name just a few.

With so much to see and do in New York City, the Big Apple is the ideal destination for a fun Labor Day weekend getaway!

Hudson Hotel
The hotel was dark, the rooms were extremely small with no storgae space for your clothes. It is a converted YMCA and the halls are narrow and dark. The clientele is very young and the we felt out of place being old enough to be their grand parents. Their food is excellent and so was the service. Very accomodating in every way. It was difficult to keep a web connection due to the age of the building. By the way, the hotel does not have its name on the door. It is the first unlisted hotel I every satyed at. For the price, it was not a value. I would not stay there again.
