If the numbers on the top of the roof are lit, the cab is available for hire. Stick your arm out and wave at it to get it to pick you up. The only cabs authorized to pick up hails are the yellow medallion cabs. Do not take rides from any other cars as they are usually more expensive, and may even be dangerous. Cabs only take cash - and make sure that you have small bills on you or you risk the driver not being able to make change. Essential New York Tour by Gray Line (ENC) One of the buses had a broken air conditioner, other than that the tours were great, would recommend to anyone.
