Philadelphia & Amish Country Day TripThe Philadelphia and Amish Country day trip will take you on a ride through the beautiful Pennsylvania countryside and deep into the Amish territory for a journey back in time. Situated only 100 miles from New York City, the City of Brotherly Love offers some of the most historic sites in the nation. You will see the world famous Liberty Bell and tour Independence Hall. Your travels will take you along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and Elsert Alley, the oldest inhabited street in America. The Liberty Bell originally stood in the tower of Independence Hall. The bell first chimed on July 8, 1776 as the signal of independence for the citizens of the U.S. as the Declaration of Independence was read to the public by Colonel John Nixon. Independence Hall is now a part of the Independence National Historic Park. The hall is noted as the place where the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were written and signed. Before heading to Lancaster County to see the Amish, you will be taken by the steps made famous by the movie Rocky. The seventy-two steps are situated at the entrance to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. From the top of the steps, you can see the Philadelphia City Hall. You will be taken back in time when you visit Amish country. Take a ride on an authentic Amish buggy and see the historic farms. Witness how the Amish people live and work without the benefit of modern technology: no running water, no telephones, no electricity, and no appliances. Details:
