Richard Rogers Theater is putting on In the Heights, a critically acclaimed musical about immigrants in the Washington Heights area. In the Heights has garnered several awards, including an Obie Award, several Outer Critics Circle Awards and many others.

The tale opens with Usnavi (the lead character) chasing away a graffiti artist from his bodega. The production centers on the bodega and the human hopes and dreams that wash through as if on a tide. You will meet Usnavi's love interest, Vanessa, as well as an amazingly colorful cast of characters. The tale continues, following as each character tries to follow their dreams, chooses to deny their dreams, or falls in defeat.

The score is one of the best parts of the production, featuring Latin flavorings (Usnavi is from the Dominican Republic) mixed with hip hop themes. With 23 different musical acts, the music makes up an enormous part of this play and with great effect.
