Dreamgirls is back for the first time in twenty years at the Apollo Theatre in celebration of the theatre's 75th anniversary. The story is loosely based on the adventures of the Supremes and their 1960's Motown journey. Dreamgirls follows the path of the R&B singing sensation from the early days of dreaming to finally living the dream. As the famed trio rise to stardom, they realize that only one of the stars can be in the center.

The story follows the path of the trio as their fortune changes. Dreamgirls is a true rags-to-riches story and follows the associated conflict and drama that ensue a meteoric rise to fame. The musical features the songs that won a Tony Award in 1982.
