Blithe Spirit is a British comedy written in 1941 by Noel Coward, set in Kent, England in the 1930s, and tells the story of a man who summons his deceased wife in a séance. The deceased wife's ghostly spirit stages a car accident in an effort to bring her husband into the world she lives in. Blithe Spirit has previously gained attention first as a British smash hit film in 1945 and later as a made-for-TV movie in 1956. Instead, the man's current wife is killed in the accident. Trying again, the deceased first wife again stages an accident. This time, the man is killed and joins both of his wives in the afterworld, leaving the two women to share their husband with each other for eternity. Blithe Spirit originally received condemnation for its humor dealing with the deceased, but has since grown into a smash hit that has received rave reviews. You will have a truly entertaining night at the theater when you enjoy Blithe Spirit on your trip to New York City!
