Special Exhibitions
- Frogs: A Chorus of Colors (on view through January 3, 2010) - Back by popular demand, this delightful exhibition will introduce visitors to the colorful and richly diverse world of frogs. More than 200 live frogs, from the tiny golden mantella frog (less than an inch long) to the enormous African bullfrog (as big as eight inches in diameter), will be shown in their re-created habitats, complete with rock ledges, live plants, and waterfalls.
- Extreme Mammals (on view through January 3, 2010) - Extreme Mammals explores the surprising and sometimes bizarre world of extinct and living mammals. The exhibition will also include dynamic media displays, animated computer inter actives, hands-on activities, and touchable fossils and casts that highlight mammals' distinctive qualities and illuminate the shared ancestry that unites these diverse creatures.
- Traveling the Silk Road: Ancient Pathways to the Modern World (on view from November 14, 2009 through August 15, 2010) - Experience the commerce of trade from more than 1,000 years ago with this engaging exhibit that details how cultures came together and flourished along the Silk Road, one of history's greatest trade routes.
