Description

The hop-on/hop-off tour routes include the Downtown Loop, Uptown Loop, Bronx Loop, Brooklyn Loop, Night Lights Tour, and Holiday Lights Tour (when available), and these six different bus routes are accessible within the 48-hour period. While most tours invite passengers to hop off at any destination as they please and hop back onto the next bus at their leisure, the Bronx Loop, Night Lights Tour, and Holiday Lights Tour request that guests join them for the entire narrated tour. Each individual loop is one to two hours of enthralling guided fun!

The Downtown Loop

Operating from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Downtown Loop gives visitors access to some of the most thrilling sites in New York. Visit the site of the annual ball drop on New Year’s Eve and feel the excitement as you walk through Times Square. In this huge commercial intersection, your eyes will be dazzled with brilliant colors and flashing lights. Dubbed “The Crossroads of the World,” the area is the hub of the Broadway Theatre District, and approximately a third of a million people walk through Times Square daily.

This loop also takes you to the Empire State Building, where that iconic great ape climbed to the very top in the 1933 film ‘King Kong.’ The 102-story skyscraper stood as the world’s tallest building for 40 years, and is now 23rd tallest building in the world.

Other stops on the Downtown tour include the bustling upper middle class Greenwich Village and a neighborhood notable for the many artist lofts and galleries in the area, SoHo. You can also stop and enjoy Union Square, where in the early 19th century two principal thoroughfares intersected. Check out Chinatown and Little Italy, known for their fabulous cuisine and their unique historical and cultural experience not found anywhere else.

Other notable stops include Lower East Side, Flatiron Building, East Village, Rockefeller Center, and many more!

The Uptown Loop

Operating daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., the Uptown Loop takes you on an adventure through Uptown New York, driving along Central Park West beside the most beautiful and well-known park in the Big Apple. This thoroughfare creates the western border of Central Park, and on the opposite side stand many expansive architectural apartment buildings, where many celebrities have made their home. The tour stops at one of these many apartment buildings, The Dakota, where former Beatle John Lennon once lived with Yoko Ono and where Lennon was murdered in 1980. Also on the street, the American Museum of Natural History is one of the most celebrated museums in the world and will wow you with its 27 interconnected buildings and over 45 exhibits.

The tour also drives along Fifth Avenue, which creates the eastern border of the beautiful Central Park, and on the opposite side, the avenue is lined with many prestigious shops. Part of the avenue is called the Museum Mile, where the street is full of museums and other fine arts institutions, and this area is a must-see for anyone visiting the New York area.

Also, enjoy a trip to the Harlem Market, where you can find many fabulous traditional African crafts and fabrics and other shops where you can have your hair braided or find unique wooden figurines. Visit Lincoln Square and enter the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, where stage artists can have their dreams come true, and enjoy one of the many free shows available.

The Uptown Loop also includes the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Grant’s Tomb, The Apollo Theater, and many others!

The Bronx Loop

On the Bronx Loop, you are able to escape the hustle and bustle of Manhattan on this tour with a licensed guide who will take you to one of the city’s most interesting boroughs. Here, art, commerce, and history converge, and you can experience the diverse cultures that call this area their home. You can meet this hour-long tour at Grant’s Tomb to start your journey!

The Brooklyn Loop

The Brooklyn Loop provides visitors with an exciting look at this exciting borough! Visit the Brooklyn Museum of Art, one of the oldest and largest art museums in the country, to see its world-renowned collections. Also check out the Botanical Garden, which offers its visitors the best in urban gardening and horticultural presentation. Other notable stops on the loop include the Fulton Mall, Grand Army Plaza, Cadman Plaza, Brooklyn Public Library, and more!

The Night Tour

There is no better way to see the city that never sleeps than in the dark! Explore the nightlife and see the beautiful city aglow with lights on this two-hour tour. You can see the Empire State Building, Manhattan Bridge, Lower East Side, Rockefeller Center, and many more as they light up the sky. This is your chance to watch the city come to life as the sun goes down.

The Holiday Lights Tour

During the Christmas season when the Big Apple is full of holiday spirits, guests can take this tour to witness the decorations and animations of many famous department stores and other architectural gods. Make sure to keep your eyes wide open as you enter Rockefeller Center to see the enormous annual Christmas tree with its stunning display of lights.

Reviews
We all enjoyed the double decker tour, the accessibility of the buses for hopping on and off, and the knowledgeable guides. The routes covered most of the major attractions and took just long enough without being too long or short. I would certainly recommend these tours to my friends.

This was our first visit to new york and decided to take the double decker tour. It was fantastic! The tour guides provided so much information and humor as we drove around the city. It would be nice if all buses had half of the upper deck covered. Fully covered upper decks have a strong exhaust fume smell. Buses without any coverage up top are too cold and wet.
