Walking down S Carrollton Ave in New Orleans, the smell of Delta seafood wafts down the street, mingling with the sounds of faint jazz and the buzz of chatter from inside the many bars and clubs- occasionally, one might hear Elvis and the crashing of pins adding to this audible jumble, when passing by the Rock 'n' Bowl.
Complete with Elvis impersonators twice a year (on the birth and deathdays of the man), entering the Rock and Bowl is like stepping back into 1958.
There are live bands here, of course either Rock 'n' Roll or Rockabilly, and patrons dancing even in the lanes.
As the owner has a history in catering, the food here can be far from regular bowling fare- even offering gator sausages!
This fun and admittedly strange place is a great visit for anyone passing through New Orleans, or for bowling fans, a destination in of itself.
