The only building in the United States to have served as both a U.S. and Confederate Mint now houses the Louisiana State Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana. When Louisiana seceded from the union in 1861, the property was seized by the Confederate Army. It was used to mint Confederate currency for a short time, and went back to minting U.S. coins after the war. Visitors can now tour this interesting historical site.
NOTE: This building is still closed for repairs after Hurricane Katrina. Check back for updates.
