Join in the tradition of down-home Southern meals at the New Orleans School of Cooking. 

There's nothing better than a good New Orleans story, unless it's great New Orleans food! Now you can have the best of both at the New Orleans School of Cooking. Spice up your New Orleans vacation with open cooking classes where you'll learn all the secrets to cooking fantastic Cajun food including Gumbo, Jambalaya, Pastaletta and more.

There are classes available daily and each lasts either two or three hours. During the class you'll learn the basics of Cajun cooking along with some history of the area and the molasses warehouse in which the cooking school is located. Built in the 1800's and located in the French Quarter, this building is full of stories and tall tales that add excitement and intrigue to your learning experience.

New Orleans School of Cooking Morning Class

The morning class is scheduled daily from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and the menu features 4 great Cajun or Creole dishes each day. The Monday menu includes New Orleans specialties like Red Beans and Rice, Corn Bread and Pecan Pie. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday you'll learn the fundamentals of Gumbo, Jambalaya and Bread Pudding. On Friday they add a little "bam" to the menu with Corn and Crab Bisque, Shrimp Creole and Bread Pudding. Each day's menu is topped off with New Orleans' famous Pralines.

New Orleans School of Cooking Afternoon Class

The afternoon class begins at 2:00 pm and lasts two hours. On Monday you'll learn to make traditional New Orleans Gumbo and Jambalaya. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday menus offer Pastaletta and Shrimp Creole. Weekends get "hot" with Shrimp and Artichoke Soup and Crawfish Etouffee on Friday then Corn and Crab Bisque and Shrimp Creole on Saturday. As with the morning class, each day ends with the essentials of making the delicious Pralines that New Orleans is famous for.

New Orleans Louisiana General Store

Adjacent to the school is the Louisiana General Store where you'll find all your favorite spices, sauces and so much more. Dozens of cookbooks are available with all the best New Orleans recipes and gift baskets make the perfect gift to take back for family and friends. You'll find just about everything you need for your new love of Cajun cooking, including some mood setting music to get you in the spirit.

This year you won't just return home from vacation with boring slideshows, pictures and stories. This year, you can take home something that will give your friends and family a taste of New Orleans.
