The Audubon Aquarium is the only place in the South where Southern sea otters can be seen.

While New Orleans really doesn't have an "off" season, the hot and humid summer months tend to see less travelers than the cooler months of spring, fall, and winter. Visiting during these months may lead you to more cooler, indoor activities.

New Orleans' Audubon Aquarium of the Americas

At the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas you will find more than 1,800 of the world's rarest animals. The aquarium displays animals such as otters, sharks, sea horses, and jellyfish in their natural habitats. New Orleans' Van Benthuysen-Elms Mansion

The Van Benthuysen-Elms Mansion is an exquisite mansion located on St. Charles Avenue in the historical Garden District. The mansion was built in 1869 and displays furnishings from that period. The scenery includes lovely gardens and patios that are absolutely breathtaking. The mansion offers tours that will teach you about the history of New Orleans.

New Orleans' Oak Alley Plantation

Oak Alley Plantation is located between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. The 1839 plantation features Greek-revival style architecture. This National Historical Landmark is located on 25 acres of sprawling grounds where you can find civil war re-enactments. The grounds also feature a gift shop and Oak Alley Restaurant.

New Orleans' Nottoway Plantation

Nottoway Plantation is one of the largest plantation homes in the South boasting over 53,000 square feet of space. The mansion was built in 1859 and displays an unusual, irregular floor plan. The Plantation was one of the first to feature indoor plumbing and both hot and cold running water, which were not common in the time of it's completion.

New Orleans' Musee Conti Wax Museum

At Musee Conti Wax Museum one hundred and fifty four life-size wax sculptures will give you a picture story of the history of New Orleans. Learn the stories of New Orleans' past as you view the detailed costumes and accurate settings as you tour this wax museum.

New Orleans' Mardi Gras World

Take a tour of Mardi Gras World and view colorful props such as a life-size jester and intimidating alligators. You can dress up in authentic carnival costumes and watch as an actual parade float is being made.

New Orleans' Preservation Hall

At Preservation Hall people go to hear the live sounds of authentic New Orleans jazz. Various bands play the hall every night and treat guests to the melodies of New Orleans.
