Adventures Abound in New Orleans at the Audubon Zoo!
White Tigers
The Audubon Zoo is home to white tigers, orangutans, Asian elephants, flamingos, jaguars, monkeys, lions, zebras, hippos and much, much more.
Are you ready to go wild in New Orleans? We're not talking about Mardi Gras, we mean at the Audubon Zoo! At the Audubon Zoo you'll find a wonderful mix of animals from around the world in their own natural habitat exhibits. Spend the day with the true wild things of New Orleans, such as:
Audubon Zoo Embraceable Zoo Other highlights that can be found within the Audubon Zoo are the Embraceable Zoo, where you can actually touch endangered domestic animals, and daily animal presentations, including shows from the multi-talented sea lions and elephants. Audubon Zoo Louisiana Swamp Exhibit In the Louisiana Swamp Exhibit you'll find wildlife from the local swamps like alligators and raccoons and plant life including cypress knees and Spanish moss. You'll also have an opportunity to sample some spicy Cajun cookin' there. Audubon Zoo Jaguar Jungle In Jaguar Jungle you'll step back into the time of the Mayans and learn about the culture and myths surrounding these people of Central America. You'll come face to face with storks, spider monkeys, scarlet ibis, a sloth and jaguars, which were one of the most sacred animals of Mayan culture. Audubon Zoo Tigers Rex and Zulu eagerly await your visit. These two playful white tigers will entertain you with their pouncing antics when they aren't lounging around sunbathing. Audubon Zoo Reptile Encounter In the Reptile Encounter you'll get an up-close look at a fascinating pair of Komodo dragons. Weighing in at about 200 lbs. and spanning 6-9 ft., the Komodo dragon is the world's largest lizard. One bite can be deadly so don't peck on the glass! Audubon Zoo Gorillas Casey and Company will give you new insight into the world of gorillas. Spend some time watching Casey, Brinti, Praline and Fanya exploring, foraging and playing in their natural habitat. Audubon Zoo Treehouse at Monkey Hill When its time for some monkey business, it's time to head over to the Treehouse at Monkey Hill. The 20-ft. tall structure contains 5 levels and gives you a breathtaking view of New Orleans' tallest point along with a nice shaded rest area, beautiful landscaping and, for the kid or the kid at heart, a perfect hill for rolling down.
