Family Program: Making Records at Historic RCA Studio B
Elvis did it. So did Dolly. Roy Orbison, Charley Pride and the Everly Brothers, too. Recording at Historic RCA Studio B, that is. To celebrate the studio's 50th anniversary, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum offered the Family Program: Making Records at Historic RCA Studio B. The interactive workshop gave visitors the opportunity to join these hallowed ranks as record makers in the legendary studio.
Participants learned the recording process and a little the history of this famous recording home, known as the 'Home of 1,000 Hits'. Acting as artist and engineer, visitors created their own recording, and were able to purchase a disc of their work.
Operating the famed studio as a historic site since 1977, The Country Music Hall of Fame restored the original appearance of the primary studio in 1996. Thanks to the generosity of the Mike Curb Family Foundation, the students of Belmont University began using the Studio in 2003 for completing recording projects.
With a purpose of preserving the history of country music and related southern-rooted genres, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is a not-for-profit organization, chartered by the American Association of Museums.
