Unarguably the Grand Ole Opry's tallest member, Trace Adkins became an official member of the Grand Ole Opry and can frequently be found on its stage singing his long string of hits.

At 6'6" tall, the Louisiana-born artist maintains a commanding stage presence as he delivers his own style of country that often bridges the gap between genres - although they still always remain his "Songs About Me."

Background and Early Career

  • Born on January 13, 1962, Trace learned to play guitar early on and continued to play throughout his young adult hood as he worked the honky tonk scene before his career took off.
  • Before his country music career began to flourish, Trace worked as an oil driller and had aspirations to become a professional football player. He moved to Nashville in the early 1990s, and was signed to Capitol Records for his 1996 debut album, Dreaming Out Loud.

Grand Ole Opry Induction

  • When it came time for his induction into the Grand Ole Opry, the Opry's shortest member - 4'11" Little Jimmy Dickens - took the honor of officially welcoming Trace to the Grand Ole Opry family as he stood on a step-ladder to look the new member in the eye.

Grand Ole Opry Ticket
My family and I loved the Grand Ole Opry. It was our first time there. The show kept our attention with many performers. It lasted two and a half hours and we wished it lasted longer. When I go back to Nashville I will definetly return to the Grand Ole Opry.

The seats that were picked for us were front and center on the balcony level. We could see every thing. Great experience.

The final 2 acts, Jimmy Dickens and Mel Tilles, were fantastic. I felt that the announcer who was supposed to 'warm the audience up' was not the best choice for that particular job.
