For more than forty years, the Whites have been showcasing stunning family harmonies as they blend a mix of bluegrass, Texas swing, and honky tonk flavor to their style of country music. The family includes father Buck and daughters Cheryl & Sharon. Mother Pat retired from the group in 1973, and a third daughter, Rosie, is also a skilled vocalist and musician.

Background and Early Career

  • The Whites began their career as a performing family in the 1960s and quickly became highly respected in the bluegrass community. The family continued to perform together through the 1960s and 1970s, but it was in the 1980s that the group became known to a much wider audience.
  • The Whites scored several top hits, including "You Put the Blue in Me," "Pins and Needles," and many others. On a tour in 1979, the Whites met bluegrass trailblazer Ricky Skaggs, and two years later Sharon White and Skaggs were married.

Grand Ole Opry Induction

  • The Whites were inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry on March 2, 1984.

Grand Ole Opry Country Music Show - Nashville
We could have had better seats, but I guess it was my fault for not asking for seats closer to the stage. Also, those may have been the only ones left when I booked .
