Quite possibly one of the most well known names in country music, Reba McEntire has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry for twenty years, and with all her achievements and fame, it is indeed no surprise that she has been selected to regularly grace the Opry's stage.  With 50 million records sold, two books published, a lead role in a Broadway musical and a television show, and her own clothing line, Reba has achieved stardom in different areas of media.

Background and Early Career

  • Reba was born in Chockie, Oklahoma to a schoolteacher and Oklahoma rancher. Reba's father and grandfather were champion steer ropers, and before her singing career took off, Reba participated in quarter-horse and barrel racing rodeos.
  • When Reba sang the national anthem at the National Finals Rodeo in 1975, singer Red Steagall told her she should go to Nashville to record demos. It was only a year later that her first single hit the country charts.

Grand Ole Opry Induction

  • Reba was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on January 14, 1986. By this time, her music career had very much taken off with hits like "Can't Even Get the Blues No More," "Somebody Should Leave," and "How Blue."

Grand Ole Opry Country Music Show - Nashville
We loved the Opry, it was awesome, just disappointed that Jimmy Dickens was unable to perform when he was one of the performers we really wanted to see, maybe next time!

Saw Carrie Underwood, Jimmy Dickens, etc. We had fabulous seats only 8 rows back in the middle of the floor! We will NEVER forget that experience!

Our seats were very close to the stage - we couldn't have asked for better seats. It was such a treat to see Pam Tillis and Emmy Lou Harris. A wonderful evening.
