Grand Ole Opry Member Spotlight: Marty StuartWith a sound as unique as his personal style, Marty Stuart's contributions to rockabilly, bluegrass, and country music are immeasurable. Known for wearing flashy rhinestone suits and doling out a honky-tonk, rockabilly-infused sound, it's difficult to confuse any Marty Stuart song for another artist's work. Background and Early Career Marty Stuart was born September 30, 1958 in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Marty received his first guitar at the age of 2, and his first mandolin at the age of 12. He began playing in family bluegrass bands before he was a teenager, and made his first Grand Ole Opry appearance in 1972, playing mandolin with musical great Lester Flatt. After Flatt's death in 1979, Marty join Johnny Cash's band. Marty worked with Cash until 1985, when he released his self-titled debut album. That release would spark a recording career than has earned the Mississippi native coveted industry awards, including a Grammy Award and CMA Award. Although Marty has collaborated with a wide variety of performers over the years, he maintains a style that is all his own as he blends the bluegrass music on which he was raised with the cutting-edge "hillbilly rock" that he has helped create. Grand Ole Opry Country Music Show - Nashville
Words cannot express how much we enjoyed the Grand Ole Opry! I was blown away! I did not expect to love it sooo much. We went when they had an exceptionally good line-up. Trace Adkins, Martina McBride, Wynonna, and Lee Greenwood, Absolutely incredible! If you like county music this is a must see!
-Donna Howe, Mount Vernon, IN Grand Ole Opry Country Music Show - Nashville
We could have had better seats, but I guess it was my fault for not asking for seats closer to the stage. Also, those may have been the only ones left when I booked .
-Sharon Mattox, Poplarville, MS Grand Ole Opry Country Music Show - Nashville
A wonderful night of good music and performers. The only thing was that the performaers weren't as known to us as what we thought, but they wer still very good and I know will be big stars soon.
