Grand Ole Opry member Lorrie Morgan grew up with the Opry family as the daughter of long-time member and country music legend George Morgan. Lorrie's first performance on the Grand Ole Opry stage was as a 13-year-old girl singing Marie Osmond's "Paper Roses." Young Lorrie received a standing ovation that night.

Background and Early Career

  • Lorrie Morgan was born June 27, 1959, in Nashville, Tennessee, and was used to the spotlight from an early age due to her father's success in the country music industry. George Morgan died in 1975, when Lorrie was 16, leaving her to work with this band for a few years before branching out to work as a demo singer, songwriter, and receptionist for Acuff-Rose. By 1978, she was recording her own music and enjoying some minor success on the charts while playing clubs around Nashville.
  • In 1983, Lorrie began performing on the Nashville Now, one of TNN's flagship country music stations. The following year, she joined the Grand Ole Opry, and by 1988 had signed major deal with RCA Records.
  • Her debut album received critical acclaim, eventually going gold and spawning her first No. 1 hit with "Five Minutes." That string of hits has continued into the 21st century.

Grand Ole Opry Induction

  • Lorrie Morgan was inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry on June 9, 1984, after more than a decade of joining her father George Morgan on the coveted stage.

Highlight of our trip. Would have liked to stayed for every show. Thanks again for the best tickets in the house.!!!

Grand Ole Opry Country Music Show - Nashville
Great experience, my no-choice seats were okay I thought when I saw what row we were on but we were against the wall on the outside aisle. However, the entertainment was good. Porter Waggoner is still going strong and Little Jimmy Dickens is a hoot. Loved Josh Turner. Need to get my husband up to the Grand Ole Opry before long!!

The final 2 acts, Jimmy Dickens and Mel Tilles, were fantastic. I felt that the announcer who was supposed to 'warm the audience up' was not the best choice for that particular job.
