What Little Jimmy Dickens lacks in size he makes up for in bravado and raw talent. This 4'll Opry star has a penchant for loud songs and rhinestone costumes, so you will never miss him in a crowd. One of the Grand Ole Opry's most beloved members, Little Jimmy Dickens has been turning out hits for decades. He had chart toppers in the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s.

Background and Early Career

  • Little Jimmy has always loved country music, but his first break in making a career of it came when he was attending college in Virginia. He began to perform at a local radio station in the 1930s.
  • Legendary Opry member Roy Acuff heard Jimmy singing on the radio and invited him to sing at the Grand Ole Opry. The rest is history.
  • In 1949 Jimmy Dickens signed with Colombia Records and began to release his string of hits.

Grand Ole Opry Induction

  • Little Jimmy Dickens was inducted in August of 1948 on the original Ryman Auditorium stage. He performed there until the 1970s, and continues to perform at the new Grand Ole Opry location today.

We had the opportunity to play music on stage while our picture was taken and even got some applause from people working on stage and some people sitting in the seats

Grand Ole Opry Country Music Show - Nashville
We could have had better seats, but I guess it was my fault for not asking for seats closer to the stage. Also, those may have been the only ones left when I booked .
