Born Franklin Delano Roosevelt in Sparta, North Carolina, Del Reeves continues to be a Grand Ole Opry favorite! Known as much for his comedic impressions of other country singers as he is for his own music, Del is a long-standing Opry entertainer.

Background and Early Career

• Del learned the guitar at an early age and was a radio star by age 12. Del moved from California to Nashville in 1962 and had a No. 1 hit just three years later.
• He and his wife have worked as a professional songwriting team, and Del had his own string of hits in the 1960s.

Grand Ole Opry Induction

• Porter Wagner introduced Del as an Opry member on October 14, 1966. After the announcement, Del burst into tears and could only sing the choruses and the ends of his songs. His parents were in the audience that night.
