On December 8, 2012, Marty Stuart was honored for his twentieth anniversary as a Grand Ole Opry member. Stuart has become one of country music’s most beloved ambassadors throughout the years, making it only fitting that this anniversary party would be celebrated Opry-style. The show featured performances by Stuart’s wife, Connie Smith, as well as Charley Pride, Old Crow Medicine and Brandy Clark.
Stuart performed with Phyliss J. Anderson, the Chief of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, along with two Choctaw dancers.
Stuart’s Anniversary Show took place in the Ryman Auditorium, the building where Stuart made his debut Opry appearance forty years prior. Stuart appeared alongside Lester Flatt in September of 1972, when he was just thirteen years old.
