Mac Powell At Grand Ole Opry Country Music Show - Nashville
Mac Powell, though new to the country scene, is a veteran performer in his role as lead singer of the contemporary Christian band Third Day. Third Day is hugely influential in the Christian music world, has won 4 Grammys and sold millions of albums, and Powell has now taken on another project: returning to his musical roots by recording a country album. Powell's self-titled country album is full of boot-stomping country tunes that allow Powell to experiment outside the thematic restrictions of Christian music. Powell grew up in rural Alabama, watching his parents sing and play guitar around the house and listening to his father's collection of Southern and classic rock albums. Powell's self-titled album was released in August 2012, and the singles “June Bug,” “Georgia Girls” and “Mississippi” are gaining attention from fans. Mac Powell made his debut on the Grand Ole Opry stage in 2007, when he sang with Charlie Daniels.
