Singer and actress Laura Bell Bundy was born in April of 1981 in Lexington, Kentucky. At the age of nine, she made her first stage debut in regional theatre. At fourteen, she began her rise to fame with the role of young Sarah in the movie Jumanji. Other performances that she has to her name include Tina Denmark in the Off-Broadway musical Ruthless! The Musical, Amber Von Tussle in Hairspray on Broadway, the standby for Glinda in Wicked in 2004, and Elle Woods in the Broadway performance of Legally Blonde: The Musical.
Bundy released her first country music single “Giddy On Up” in 2010, which debuted on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart at Number Sixty and peaked at Number Thirty-One. “Giddy On Up” is featured on the video game “Just Dance 3.” Her next single, “Drop On By,” peaked at Number Forty-Eight. Her album Achin’ and Shakin’ debuted at Number Five on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and Number Twenty-Eight on the all-genre Billboard 200. Her third album released “That’s What Angels Do” in 2012.
In 1993, Bundy was nominated for the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical for her role in Ruthless. For her performance as Elle Woods, she was nominated for her first Tony Award. She has also been nominated by the CMT Music Awards for USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year for her single “Giddy On Up” and the American Country Awards for Video by New/Breakthrough Artist for the same song.
Bundy has appeared on many films and television shows, including The Adventures of Huck Finn, Dreamgirls, Home Improvement, Guiding Light, Cold Case, and How I Met Your Mother.
