Kevin Costner At Grand Ole Opry

If someone has done it all, it would be actor, singer, musician, producer, director and businessman Kevin Costner. With two Academy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, one Emmy Award and three nominations for British Academy of Film and Television Awards to his name, as well as a variety of film roles, productions, a partial ownership of the Zion baseball team, business endeavors and more. In 2007, to add to his achievements, Costner began touring in Kevin Costner & Modern West, a country rock band. The band began their career with a worldwide tour that included shows in Istanbul and Rome.

Costner’s first album with his band, Untold Truths, was released in November of 2008 and peaked at Number Sixty-One on the Billboard Top Country Albums charts. It also peaked at Number Thirty-Five on the Heatseekers chart. They released three singles from the album, “Superman 14,” “Long Hot Night” and “Backyard.” Kevin Costner & Modern West released a second album in 2010, Turn It On, in Europe, and supported it with a European tour.
Before his career started in film, Costner met up with a musician with a major interest in acting, John Coinman. As Costner was an actor with an interest in music, the two quickly became friends and began writing and playing music together, alongside another friend, Blair Forward. The three played together into a band called Roving Boy, a rock band with an edgy Western style. They released one single together, “Simple Truth,” and continued to play together even as Costner became a big name in the film industry. In Tucson, Arizona, Coinman and Forward ended up together and, along with Teddy Morgan and Larry Cobb, created the band Modern West, later to be joined by Costner again.
