With a long list of occupations to his name, Kenny Rogers is most well-known for his work as a country singer. Born in 1938 in Houston, Texas, Rogers’ career began when he recorded with rockabilly group The Scholars. When the lead singer of the group went solo, The Scholars disbanded and Rogers moved on to a solo career. Since then, he has released over thirty studio albums, eighty singles and thirty Number One hits. He has also accumulated a number of awards and made a name for himself also as a songwriter, photographer, record producer, actor, entrepreneur and author.

Since his career started as a solo artist, Rogers has topped the charts with hits like “Lucille,” “Daytime Friends,” “Love or Something Like It,” “The Gambler,” “Coward of the County,” “Lady,” “I Don’t Need You,” “Love Will Turn You Around,” “Islands in the Stream,” “Crazy,” “Morning Desire,” “Tomb of the Unknown Love,” “Make No Mistake, She’s Mine” and “Buy Me a Rose.”
 
With a large collection of awards and honors to his name, Rogers has become one of the most recognized names in country music. He has been awarded the American Eagle Award, a Lifetime Achievement Award and the Career Achievement Award. He has been named Favorite Singer of All Time, Favorite Male Country Artist, Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist, Male Vocalist of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Top Male Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year. His songs and performances have been added awards to his list of achievements, as well, including Song of the Year, Single of the Year, Best Male Country Vocal Performance and more. His list of honors has come from the Academy of Country Music Awards, the CMA Awards, Music City News Country, American Music Awards and the Grammys.
 
Rogers has also made success as an actor, appearing in the film Six Pack and the made-for-TV movie The Gambler. He has authored two books of photography, collaborated with the former KFC CEO to start the restaurant chain Kenny Rogers Roasters and released the book Luck or Something Like It: A Memoir about his musical career.
