Kalisa Ewing At Grand Ole Opry
Growing up just outside Nashville, Kalisa has had her eyes on country music stardom since childhood. She picked up her first guitar at age 11. She says her passion for country music stems from her grandfather, Owen McCarty, who was a blind musician that sought to make it in Nashville but passed away soon after Kalisa was born. After spending years practicing, playing small shows, and writing songs while holding dead-end jobs, she met industry veteran Todd Wilkes who asked to publish her independently. So she became the first venture for Wilkes’ company, KingSpirit Music, and received a publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group. Kalisa Ewing made her debut on the Grand Ole Opry stage on May 31, 2013.
