First a member of the band Lonestar and later the duo Big & Rich, country artist John Rich was born in Amarillo Texas on January 7, 1974. After graduating from high school, Rich moved to Nashville, where he worked singing at Opryland USA. Afterward, he joined the group Texasee, later Lonestar, as the bass guitarist and occasional lead singer until 1998. After leaving the group, he became a solo artist until creating the duo Big & Rich with Big Kenny.
As a solo artist, Rich has released just two albums, the second of which has charted at Number Two on the Country charts. He has released six singles: “I Pray for You,” “Forever Loving You,” “Another You,” “Shuttin’ Detroit Down,” “The Good Lord and the Man” and “Country Done Come to Town.” His 2009 single “Shuttin’ Detroit Down” reached Number Twelve on the Country charts; all of his singles have reached the Top 60.
Rich has worked in television, as well as music, hosting the first season of Gone Country on CMT and judging on Nashville Star on NBC. Rich was also a candidate in the 2011 season of The Celebrity Apprentice and a mentor on the 2012 series The Next: Fame Is at Your Doorstep.
