Joey+Rory is a country duo composed of husband and wife, Rory and Joey Feek. The musical couple got their start on CMT’s singing competition Can You Duet in 2008. Joey+Rory took 3rd place in the competition but, most importantly, they landed a record contract with Vanguard/Sugar Hill Records.
Before the duo’s founding, Rory, the husband of the duo, worked as a songwriter in Nashville. He penned Clay Walker’s No. 5 hit “The Chain of Love,” Blake Shelton’s No. 1 hit “Some Beach,” and Jimmy Wayne’s “I Will” to name a few. While Rory was busy writing, Joey was busy back in their hometown of Pottsville, TN, working at Marcy Jo’s Mealhouse, a restaurant she owns with her sister-in-law Marcy. Even though she has reached country music success, she still works in the area’s now-famous restaurant.
In 2008, after signing their record contract, Joey+Rory released their debut album The Life of a Song. The album was well-received and charted at No. 10 on the Top Country Albums Chart. The album’s lead-off single “Cheater, Cheater,” landed at No. 30 on the Top Country Songs Chart. In 2010, they released their second album, Album Number Two featuring the songs, “This Song’s for You” and “That’s Important to Me.” Later that year, the duo won the Academy of Country Music’s Award for Top New Vocal Duo. Their latest album, His and Hers, was released in 2012.
