Veteran's Day Activities in Myrtle Beach

Veteran's Day celebrates the military veterans who have bravely and honorably served for our country. This special day is celebrated around the country on November 11, the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice which ended World War I. If you are planning to be in Myrtle Beach this Veteran's Day, you can celebrate the day by honoring veterans at a variety of special, planned events that are taking place in the area.

On Saturday, November 10, observe Veteran's Day a day early with a special ceremony by the Grand Strand Patriotic Alliance. This event begins at the plaza of the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, and the public is invited to join in the festivities to honor those military veterans in attendance as well as throughout the world. The special guest speaker, Major General James Livingston, is a Medal of Honor recipient. Other speakers include those from local ROTC programs as well as others. Patriotic music will be performed live by the Socastee High School Band.

Head out to the golf course and celebrate the freedom our soldiers have fought so bravely to protect. The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Golf Classic benefits the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and is in its tenth year of success. The tournament runs from November 8 through November 13 and is open to any golfer. There is a limit of 1,200 golfers at this event, so advance registration is encouraged. Make plans to celebrate the spirit of the day by golfing for a good cause.

The military setting of the Annual Carolina Sports Medicine Battleship Half Marathon and 5K is perfect for pausing and giving thanks to our men and women in uniform. This event begins at the Battleship North Carolina in Wilmington, and winds through historic downtown Wilmington and around Greenfield Lake before crossing Memorial Bridge and returning to the Battleship. Make plans to participate in this event on November 9 and enjoy the rich spirit of history and patriotism the setting provides.
