Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is easily the heart of the shag dance world and with the National Shag Dance Championships over, there is still a lot of excitement in the air.

On March 8th, 9th, and 10th of this year the finals were held and professional dance team Sam West and Jessica Mcalhany took home not only first place in their division, but were the overall winners with their fancy footwork.

Shag?
Shag dancing is a form of swing dancing that is immensely popular in its native state, South Carolina. Purists will recognize this type of dancing as Carolina Shag, which is a direct evolution of the big band jazz, jitterbug, and jump blues eras. Beach music is generally played to it, so fans of Good Vibrations! at the Carolina Opry may want to take a closer look.

Good Vibrations! at The Carolina Opry
I went to Good Vibrations this summer and loved the show. I took my family from NY last night 9/12 and though good was disappointed of the changes made. I heard 3 songs of Billy Joel and would of preferred just one and have the Beach Boys song like in the summer, after all the show is a song they sing. I also liked it better with young Roberts singing more and the tall fellow that sang more in the summer. Don't get me wrong a wonderful show but liked it like it was.
