A national treasure at the heart of the Colorado Plateau, the Sand Flats Recreation Area is a seven-thousand-acre high plain of slickrock domes, bowls, and fins popular with thrill-seeking cyclists, motorcyclists, and ATV enthusiasts. Home to the famous Slickrock Bike Trail, bicyclists will also enjoy the challenging Porcupine Rim Trail, while ATV drivers can enjoy the thrills and amazing scenery of the Fins and Things Jeep Trail and Hells Revenge Trail.
Rising to meet the colorful mesas and peaks of the La Sal Mountains, Sand Flats is also a popular destination for campers who can take advantage of the 120 campsites, open year round, and the spectacular hundred-mile view over Arches National Park. Sand Flats issues low-cost day-use passes good for three days.
