You will ride in an air-conditioned Jeep that will bring you comfort and a great way to enjoy the back country. The tour begins at the Tag-A-Long office where you will then take a scenic byway along the Colorado River, stopping along the way to spot out a dinosaur track and Jug Handle Arch, before you move off the paved road.
Massive and impressive rock formations, wide open space, canyons that seem to go on for miles all align your path through Canyonlands National Park. Along the way, keep your eyes out not only for the landscape, but also for the natives of the park. Eagles fly overhead, while bighorn sheep and deer roam the grounds. During the adventure, you can stand out on the spot where the last scene in Thelma and Louise was filmed, staring 400 feet out above the Colorado River.
Shaffer Trail is next on the itinerary. This series of switchbacks climbs over 1,200 feet in cliffs. You'll get the opportunity to stare out at one of the most incredible panoramic views in the world. The Colorado River stretches through the land, giving it an even more beautiful touch. After Shaffer Trail, you'll move on by vehicle through Long Canyon. The rock fins present here contrast with the La Sal Mountains beyond. From Long Canyon, you'll loop around back to the Colorado River and towards Moab.
