The Museum of Russian Art in Minneapolis, Minnesota is a treasure to see. About ever three to four months, the museum rotates their exhibits. The information and displays are educational as well as historical. There are three floors in the museum and you need to check the availability of the events and displays to find out what is going on at the museum. The museum does have lectures and seminars that educate people on the world of Russian art. The lectures are generally Soviet and Russian authorities who are knowledgeable on the arts of the country.
Many of the exhibits are seen in other parts of the country as the museums throughout the other states do move displays between different institutes to allow for people from other areas to see the exhibits without traveling to them. This is a great idea when you think about it. You could choose to visit the Museum of Russian Art and see some artworks and displays only seen in another state.
If you need some fine gifts to take along with you, the gift shop has reproductions of the Faberge Egg, Russian Folk Art, crystal, vases and some smaller treasures such as necklaces and silk scarf's that are hand painted. You can also buy some books from the library as well as posters by artists Aleksandr Gerasimov and Nikolai Baskakov. You can also sign up for the IZBA, which is the new direct mail catalog from the museum, which uses the proceeds to keep the museum running.
