The Bakken Library and Museum in Minneapolis, Minnesota is located on Zenith Street, which is centrally located in the Twin Cities.& This museum is one dedicated to beautiful art, rare collections and amazing collections from around the world. Admission to the museum is low, and it is open year round, with some dates of closure. Visitors can visit from Tuesday through Saturday.
The library and museum is located inside of a Tudor style mansion that is amazingly beautiful upon approach. It is the home to a large collection of various works from various artists. There are rare book collections worth looking at. Manuscripts of various ages and styles are available, too. The collection of gadgets and scientific instruments are some of the best to see here. Many depict the benefits and uses of electricity. Medtronic, with founder Earl Bakken have developed many medical devices based on the uses of electricity and those too are on display here. Mr. Bakken is the museum's benefactor. His unique understanding and passion for electricity helped to create the Bakken Library and Museum and this mansion offers the ideal way to view that passion.
A variety of exhibits is available to be viewed. This includes a huge range of electrical components. You will see a display of how the first light bulb worked. Then, around the corner, take note of the electronic pacemaker and how it was developed and is used today. One of the larger displays within the museum is that of Doctor Frankenstein. Many come to see this exhibit on its own. The home itself is surrounded by beautiful gardens including some 200 varieties of plants with medicinal benefits.
