Florida International University in Miami, FL is a four year university which opened its doors officially in 1972 and is now one of the 25 largest universities in the country and offers more than 200 degree track programs in over 20 college disciplines. As a visitor in Miami, the Florida International University has a lot to offer besides a beautiful campus in two different locations. It also has many cultural activities in which to tour as well.
The Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum will open in a grand way in 2008 at the main campus of the college. There is also the Wolfsonian-FIU museum actually located in Miami Beach that promotes the decorative arts in the modern time from 1885 to today. This particular museum offers FIU students and staffs plenty of study opportunities for their particular art disciplines. The school of dance and theater at the Florida International University offers an eclectic series of live performances from the students throughout the year and is quite a treat for both Florida residents and visitors alike.
It is amazing what FIU has to offer the community beyond the normal degree track programs. This university provides a colorful influence for the city and state. They even host the South Beach Wine and Food Festival each year which has become one of the most major and prestigious culinary events in the country. Add the fact that the main campus also has an environmental reserve and you could spend a day or two easily visiting Florida International University and not see everything that they have to offer.
