Miami Weather Info

Visiting Miami is truly a trip to the tropics ' the subtropics, that is ' and you don't even have to leave the continental U.S. to experience the sun, sand and surf of this seaside travel destination!

Winter in Miami

Peak travel time in Miami occurs during the winter months, when visitors flock to Florida to soak up the sun and enjoy ideal temperatures. However, lines are longer, traffic is heavier and prices are higher during this time of year! Highs during December through February are in the mid-70s, and night time lows are in the mid 60s. December is the least rainy month of the year, when less than 2 inches of precipitation falls.

Spring in Miami

Spring is a great time of year to visit Miami, as temperatures and humidity levels are only slightly elevated compared to the ideal winter months, but the area is much less saturated with travelers. March, April and May are the sunniest months of the year, making this the perfect time to visit the beaches and other outdoor attractions. It is a pleasant time of year to go out on the town and take in the vibrant nightlife, or to enjoy the Calle Ocho Festival or Miami Carnival, both of which are held in March. Daily highs during the spring months range between 76 and 82 degrees.

Summer in Miami

As spring draws to a close and summer sets in, temperatures and humidity rise even more. Daily highs from June through August hover in the mid- to upper-80s, and afternoon thunderstorms are quite common. Summer travelers will want to pack an umbrella and rain jacket! June, with an average 6.8 inches of rain, is the rainiest time of year, while August is the hottest month. Summer heat in Miami feels even hotter, despite cooling sea breezes, because of the high humidity. For those days when outdoor activities would be unpleasant, Miami offers lots of great shopping, as well as indoor attractions like the Seaquarium.

Fall in Miami

When summer is over, Miami enters another period of pleasant tropical weather. Throughout autumn, daily temperatures continue to drop, though the rainy season stays around until the end of October. Daily highs are in the upper 70s and mid 80s. With its high temperatures and rainfall, September is basically an extension of summer. Autumn has its benefits, though: Miami holds several public events during the fall, and crowds are usually fairly thin, making travel cheaper and more pleasant.
