At any time during your vacation you may well feel the need to head outdoors and spend some time in nature, and the following activities are a great way to get your nature fix. The Celestun with Boat Trip on the Ria Tour takes you through the wetlands and to the beautiful beaches at Celestun. You'll see an abundance of wildlife (including pink flamingos) that can be attributed to the unique climate conditions of the area.
You can also enjoy the outdoors while on the Cenotes Cuzama Tour. Cenotes translates to springs, which is why the area is so famous. Hundreds of springs can be found in and around Cuzama and swimming in them is said to be quite an experience. This tour also includes a horse drawn carriage tour through the surrounding area. A guide will tell you about the lay of the land and the history of the area.
At the Hacienda Sotuta De Peon you'll see a mansion dating back to the 1800s. The Hacienda can be compared to the great ranches of Texas and was once the main source of income in the Yucatan area. Here they made henequen, which was made into twine, burlap bags, and other things. You'll also have a chance to swim in the cenote located on the property, or dine in the exclusive restaurant located inside the Hacienda.
If one day you don't feel like venturing too far from your hotel, the Merida City Tour will fill your day with fun that is close to "home."
