Near Merida, you can experience the Mayan civilization of towering pyramids and colossal palaces. Take the Loltun Puuc Route and you can also explore the caves of Loltun — the largest known underground cave system in Yucatán. The path you will explore next moves onward to the restored pyramids at Labna. You go further along the Puuc (hilly) Route until you reach X-Lapak and nearby Sapil. Here, 14 mounds and 3 semi-restored structures give you an idea of Mayan communities. Next up, is the Palace of Chaac (the Rain God) Masks. Most tours end off with Uxmal. This is the most cultivated and restored site with the Magician's Pyramids, the Governor's Palace, the Dove's Temple and the Nun's Quadrangle.
