Based on 8 reviews ↓
Nearly five times larger than New York's Central Park, Memphis' Shelby Farms Park is one of the biggest urban parks in the United States.

Formerly the home to a working farm developed for rehabilitating prisoners, Shelby Farms Park is now a recreational haven for Memphis and the surrounding communities. Visitors to the park enjoy a trail system ideal for walking, jogging, and mountain biking, while anglers and kayakers enjoy Patriot Lake.

More than 4,500 acres offer plenty of recreational opportunities for everyone. The 1,000 acre hardwood forests and hiking trails of Lucius Burch Natural Area offers plenty of opportunities for wildlife watching, while other animals - including bison, beavers, minks, muskrats, deer, foxes, and more than 200 species of birds call the park home. Begin your visit at the Shelby Farms Park Visitors' Center, which boasts a spectacular view of the park, information, restrooms, and other useful resources.

The recreation, picnic, and lake areas are just beautiful to enjoy along with all the wild life, ducks, bison etc.. I love all the beautiful horses you can ride for a fee along with signing liabilitiy wavers. It is so much fun to ride down along the the water edge and see the ducks and birds along the way. I would encourage anyone to go boating, fishing, walking, running, roller blading, and my favorite choice is horsebackriding! Have a fun all year round!
