Shelby Farms Park in Memphis, TNNearly five times larger than New York's Central Park, Memphis' Shelby Farms Park is one of the biggest urban parks in the United States. Formerly the home to a working farm developed for rehabilitating prisoners, Shelby Farms Park is now a recreational haven for Memphis and the surrounding communities. Visitors to the park enjoy a trail system ideal for walking, jogging, and mountain biking, while anglers and kayakers enjoy Patriot Lake.
More than 4,500 acres offer plenty of recreational opportunities for everyone. The 1,000 acre hardwood forests and hiking trails of Lucius Burch Natural Area offers plenty of opportunities for wildlife watching, while other animals - including bison, beavers, minks, muskrats, deer, foxes, and more than 200 species of birds call the park home. Begin your visit at the Shelby Farms Park Visitors' Center, which boasts a spectacular view of the park, information, restrooms, and other useful resources.

Outstanding Park!
This is a fantastic park and recreation center for family and friends to visit. It is abundant with wildlife, some of which I have photographed frequently. People of all ages will enjoy with great facility.

Shebly Farms has proven to be a well kept park for families to enjoy all aspects of outdoor. I personally enjoy fishing at the Patriot Lake. That's lots of fun. The park is well patrolled also sheriiffs combomg by frequently.
