Located about an hour from Memphis the Chickasaw National Wildlife Refuge features over 24,000 square acres of forest, open water, and grasslands where visitors can enjoy hunting, fishing, hiking, and observing all the native wildlife that live there. The primary mission of the refuge is protect, enhance, and manage a habitat for migratory birds and other endangered species as well preserving the natural environment of the area. You'll find large concentrations of geese, ducks, shorebirds, wading birds, and neotropical migrants. There are also two active bald eagle nests. A variety of other wildlife also call the refuge home.
Hunting is available as well as youth hunts. Visitors will also enjoy year round fishing in the Mississippi and Forked Deer Rivers as well as four lakes. The refuge has over 20 miles of gravel and paved roads providing access to the refuge and there are many trails for hiking and hunter access. The Chickasaw National Wildlife Refuge provides a variety of activities and is a great experience for the entire family.
