Celebrate the June 19th, 1865 announcement that all former slaves had been freed with the Juneteenth Freedom & Heritage Festival in Memphis. Although the news of freedom took more than two years to reach slaves in Texas, the resulting jubilation remains grounds of celebration.
Live music will be one highlight of this freedom festival as live blues, gospel, jazz, and hip-hop ring through the streets of Memphis. In addition, vendors from around the region will be on-hand showcasing their goods and services, while the entire family and celebrate in revelry together at the Juneteenth carnival. The event will take place at various locations around Memphis throughout the weekend.
