Annual James Logan Colbert Rendezvous at Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park

The James Logan Colbert Rendezvous is an annual historical recreation event that takes place every year in Millington, Tennessee, about a half-hour outside of Memphis. Held in late October, this event shows visitors how the area's early pioneers lived in the late 1700s. Historical recreationists hold black powder shooting competitions, perform tomahawk and knife throwing, and demonstrate pioneer cooking and craft techniques. Children attending the event can also learn about what games kids their age played over 200 years ago.

The event takes place over three days and is free and open to the public.  This event is named for James Logan Colbert, a well-known Tennessee pioneer who married a woman from the Chickasaw Indian tribe. The couple's six sons and their descendants went on to be influential in Tennessee government and advocates of Chickasaw equality. The event explores the interaction of settlers with the native Chickasaw Indians in an authentic and respectful way. Before, after or during the event visitors can also enjoy the boating, fishing, camping, picnicking and recreation resources offered by Meeman-Shelby State Park, the location where the event is held.
